Caroline Stretch, BSc (Hons) Counselling, MBACP.
I offer a safe, confidential space where you will be supported as you work through your difficulties. I will listen, without judging, analysing or telling you what to do. Working together, at your pace, with my support and encouragement, I aim to help you understand your difficulties more clearly, or from a different perspective. This process can involve acceptance of what you cannot change in your life, and discovering what positive changes you can make. Helping you to decide, with confidence, how best to move forward with your life.
I qualified as a Person Centred counsellor in 2012, I have worked with clients with a wide range of issues such as: depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, and those experiencing significant life issues such as bereavement and loss, bullying, relationship breakdowns, and work related stress.
I'm a registered member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP) and abide by their code of ethics. I hold professional indemnity insurance and a current Enhanced DBS Certificate.
I work with clients on a short or long term basis according to preference and need.

Person Centred Counselling
What is Person Centred Counselling?
Person centred counselling is a supportive approach which offers a safe, respectful and non-judgemental environment, where difficulties can be explored. The counsellor will not analyse, give advice or opinions. They will listen, encourage and empathise, helping clients see their issues more clearly or from a different perspective, working to help clients understand themselves better and determine the right way forward for themselves.
How does it work?
The main focus of what is discussed in the counselling session is decided by the client. The counsellor, facilitates the process by asking questions and helping the client clarify what they think and how they feel. Research has shown this process is effective for a wide range of problems and issues. It is popular with clients who enjoy the freedom to talk about things they wish, in a context that is supportive and facilitative, rather than those who are looking for specific techniques or tips to manage things.
How many sessions will I need?
There is no fixed number of sessions when working using a person centred approach, it is normally determined between the counsellor, and client. Some people come to counselling for a short period, others come for a longer period depending on their needs and wishes.
