Balancing, healing, harmonizing, mind, body and spirit
Reiki, pronounced 'ray-key', is a system of energy healing originating from Japan. The word Reiki itself translates as 'universal life force energy' and is based on the belief that life energy flows through all living things. Eastern medicine has worked with this energy for thousands of years.
Reiki is a safe, gentle, non-intrusive hands on healing technique, which uses spiritual energy to treat physical ailments without using pressure, manipulation or massage. The nature of Reiki is holistic, meaning that it addresses the body, mind and spirit. Reiki works on the premise that ‘life force energy’ flows through all of us. If this energy becomes unbalanced, low or stuck, it is believed that we are more likely to become stressed and unwell.
A typical session
Reiki is given in a relaxing quiet environment, you will be asked to sit or lie down in a comfortable position. You do not need to remove your clothing for Reiki healing. For comfort you may wish to remove shoes and/or glasses. The treatment itself involves the Reiki practitioner placing their hands gently on or slightly above the body, in a predetermined sequence. Starting with the head and gently progressing down the body.
How will I feel?
Everyone will respond differently to Reiki; some people say they feel sensations during their Reiki healing. Some feel heat or tingling during the treatment and some report seeing colours. For some, the experience brings up an emotional response. The most common response however is a feeling of calm, relaxation and well-being.
My Reiki journey began in 2012 when I was successfully initiated into and attuned to 'Usui Shiki Ryoho', which can be translated as 'Usui System of Natural Healing'.
I work with clients ethically, in a respectful and professional manner. Before you begin your treatment we will have a brief consultation where I will explain to you exactly what the treatment involves.
Reiki is a complementary therapy. If you have a health concern, visit your doctor and seek medical advice. Reiki should not be used in place of your doctor's recommendations; it should be used alongside your treatment to aid healing
I offer an introductory taster session, which lasts for 30 minutes, at a cost of £15.
A full Reiki treatment lasts for one hour, at a cost of £30.
